Libyan Update from the VAM: Digitizing Manuscripts of Trans Saharan Trade
At the 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting, Mr. Qasim Youshaa reported on the efforts of the Ghadames Manuscripts Association to digitize and preserve manuscripts documenting hundreds of years of the trans Saharan trade stretching from the Libyan coast towards the Niger River valley. Friends of ASOR is pleased to present a featured session from our "Making May Matter—Webinarathon to Endow Diversity at ASOR." This is a moderated Q&A conversation with scholar Debora Heard (University of Chicago) reflecting on the experiences that led her to Nubian studies. This discussion will examine disciplinary divides through the life and legacy of William Leo Hansberry, the founding of the William Leo Hansberry Society, and collaborative efforts between ASOR, Archaeology in the Community, and Hansberry Society members to promote disciplinary changes through youth education. Sydney Pickens (AITC) serves as moderator for this discussion. Click here to watch the recording on ASORtv.

2021 Call for Posters
