Meet the Directors—Fundraiser to Support ASOR’s Affiliated Overseas Research Centers
Register for our next webinar on February 11 at 1:00pm EST, featuring a roundtable discussion with the directors of ASOR's affiliated Overseas Research Centers—located in Jerusalem (AIAR: W. F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research), Nicosia, Cyprus (CAARI: Cyprus American Archaeological Research Institute), and Amman, Jordan (ACOR: American Center of Research). The Q&A segments will be moderated by former ASOR President, Dr. Susan Ackerman. Register and pay here. Price is $5 for ASOR members and $10 for non-members. All proceeds will go to supporting the Overseas Research Centers.

2021 Summer Stipends Program Expanded
ASOR previously announced a new Summer Stipends program for students to take part in research that does not require international travel. Thanks to our generous donors, the number of stipends available has increased from 20 to 25, with 5 of these reserved for BIPOC students. The deadline for applications is February 15. Read more about applying for ASOR summer stipends here.

Israelite Women with Carol Meyers on 2/21
Register for our upcoming webinar on February 21 at 7:30pm EST, featuring Dr. Carol Meyers and "Archaeology and the Hidden Religious Culture of Israelite Women." An expert in biblical studies, archaeology, and gender in the ancient world, she will address an important question: Who were the most important religious figures in ancient Israel? Dr. Meyers asserts that the main arena of religious life for most people in the biblical period was the family household, and women were major figures in household religious activities. Register and pay here. Price is $5 for ASOR members and $10 for non-members. All proceeds will help ASOR respond to COVID-19 by funding membership scholarships and online resources.

Introducing the ASOR Online Library
Beginning in January 2021, ASOR is pleased to announce the launch of our Online Library platform, an exclusive resource for scholars, students, and lay people who want a master portal into the world of the ancient Near East and wider Mediterranean. The platform is already open to registrants of the 2020 Virtual Annual Meeting (VAM). You can also gain access to this platform by registering for the 2021 Annual Meeting in Chicago and Virtual, or purchasing online access through June 2021. The Online Library brings together presentations, posters, and virtual museum tours from the 2020 Virtual Program, and the entire archive of Friends of ASOR’s monthly webinar series. Read more about purchasing access to the Online Library platform.

ASOR Announces Lifetime Honor Roll
ASOR is pleased to announce our Lifetime Honor Roll of Donors that recognizes the 138 ASOR donors who have made lifetime contributions of $5,000 or more. One of the reasons that ASOR is able to efficiently advance our mission is that we consistently have more than 20% of our members (more than 450 people per year) make a charitable contribution in addition to paying their membership dues (see the Fiscal Year 2020 Honor Roll for last year’s donors). The Lifetime Honor Roll is dedicated to those individuals and institutions that have sustained ASOR with transformative gifts over their lifetimes. ASOR is grateful to these generous donors and has made every effort to ensure accuracy in recognizing them. Please contact us at info@asor.org if we need to edit your listing on this honor roll.

Call for New Early Career Scholars Committee Members
The Early Career Scholars Committee is looking for new members. They are interested in applications from early career scholars who represent diversity in the field or who are local scholars practicing in the wider Mediterranean region. ASOR Remembers Arte Joukowsky
Artemis A.W. Joukowsky, a long-time friend and supporter of ASOR, passed away on December 11, 2020 at the age of 89. Arte had strong ties to Near Eastern archaeology, and served as President of the ACOR Board of Trustees for almost 20 years. We share our condolences with the entire Joukowsky family. Click here to read a remembrance by Megan Perry, with tribute quotations by ASOR presidents and other leaders.

2021 Annual Meeting—2 Components
ASOR’s 2021 Annual Meeting will have both in-person and virtual components. The in-person meeting will take place Nov. 17-20, in downtown Chicago. The virtual component will be held Dec. 9-12. There is one registration rate for both components. Meeting safely and providing diverse and inclusive options for participation are our top priorities. Members may request a full or partial scholarship. Learn more about the 2021 dual components, and register today.
