| Call for 2020 Annual Meeting Session and Workshop Proposals- 12/15/19 Deadline |
ASOR invites members to propose new sessions and workshops for the 2020 Annual Meeting to be held in Boston, MA, November 18-21, at The Westin Boston Waterfront. The application form is simple, and proposals can be for a session or workshop that is one, two, or three years in duration. December 15, 2019, is the deadline to submit a proposal. ASOR mourns the loss of Philip J. King, who died on December 8, 2019. A renowned archaeologist, historian, and biblical scholar, Phil King served as ASOR President from 1976-1982. A full obituary will be published in the next News@ASOR. |

| ASOR Session Chair Openings |
ASOR seeks applications from members to fill Session Chair openings for the following ASOR Standing Sessions: Ancient Inscriptions; Archaeology of the Byzantine Near East; Archaeology of Israel; Art Historical Approaches to the Near East; and Technology in Archaeology. Session Chairs volunteer to serve one term (three years, 2020-2022) with the possibility of renewing for a second term. The application is simple and can be completed online here. The Committee on Membership and Outreach needs your help! The committee works closely with the Membership and Friends of ASOR Manager regarding ASOR institutional and individual memberships, including (but not limited to) strategies for membership growth, appropriate membership benefits, the most fitting way to categorize individual memberships (student, recent graduate, etc.), greater enfranchisement of ASOR’s international members, and resources that members might like ASOR to provide. ASOR announced five newly elected trustees of the ASOR Board of Trustees at the 2019 ASOR Annual Meeting in San Diego. There were two openings for Member-elected Trustees (each for a 3-year term) and three openings for Institutionally-elected Trustees (two three-year openings and one two-year opening). All ASOR members were eligible to vote in the Member-elected Trustee Election, while only Institutional Representatives of the 72 ASOR-member schools voted in the Institutionally-elected Trustee Election. In addition, Lisa Ackerman and Sheila Bishop were re-appointed as Board-elected Trustees. Read more . . . |

| Cultural Heritage Committee Seeks New Members |

The ASOR Cultural Heritage Committee is seeking new members. The Cultural Heritage Committee takes responsibility for overseeing ASOR initiatives on cultural heritage (CHI), including advising the Executive Director on grant applications; assistance and review as needed on ASOR cultural heritage activities and funding; working with other standing committees (e.g. the Publications Committee) and advising the Board of Trustees on issues pertaining to cultural heritage.
