ASOR’s Trustee Nominations Committee announces an open call for (self) nominations for the ASOR Board of Trustees. The Committee seeks individuals to serve as either a Member-Elected Trustee or an Institutionally-Elected Trustee. The Board sets the direction for ASOR and provides oversight for our organization. Early Career Scholars Receive Free Pottery Volume
ASOR is very pleased to announce that we were able to raise enough funds to purchase and ship 86 copies of Seymour Gitin’s The Ancient Pottery of Israel and Its Neighbors from the Middle Bronze Age through the Late Bronze Age to students and early career scholars. Thanks to the generosity of three anonymous donors, ASOR was able to continue its mission of supporting students and early career scholars by providing this fantastic opportunity. This Survey on Field Safety: Middle East, North Africa, and Mediterranean Basin (Update 2019) is designed to understand if archaeological fieldwork does – or does not – provide a safe and secure setting for all participants. In particular, it focuses on physical and emotional safety from intimidation, harassment and violence based on gender, sexual orientation, and/or gender identity. Call for Applications for Getty Scholar Grants
ASOR is pleased to share information about Getty Scholar Grants that are awarded annually by The Getty Foundation. The themes for the 2020–2021 academic year are “The Fragment” (Getty Research Institute) and “Phoenicians, Philistines, and Canaanites: The Levant and the Classical World” (Getty Villa). Award amounts range from $17,200 (for three-month residency) to $65,000 (for nine-month residency). The deadline is October 1, 2019, at 5PM PT. ASOR members are encouraged to apply. Read More ...

The duties of the position include the following: maintenance of an editorial office for the journal; solicitation and acquisition of manuscripts suitable for publication; implementation of a peer-review process for the evaluation of manuscripts; collaboration with the managing editor and the ASOR staff; actively promoting the journal online; and editing and proofreading each issue. ASOR Seeks Volunteers to Serve on Program Committee
The ASOR Program Committee (PC) is seeking three new members, each to serve one three-year term (2020-22) with the possibility of renewing for a a second term. The PC is responsible for the intellectual content of the Annual Meeting. Specifically, the PC solicits and reviews session proposals and reviews paper abstracts for possible violations of the ASOR Policy on Professional Conduct as needed.
