GCI-ASOR Boot Camp on Conservation and Archaeology
The Getty Conservation Institute (GCI), in partnership with ASOR, is hosting a one-day Boot Camp on Conservation and Archaeology on Sunday, November 24 in San Diego. The goal is to provide mid-career and senior archaeologists and excavation directors with essential knowledge about the role and competencies of the conservation professional in research design, planning, and implementation of archaeological excavations and post-excavation care of objects and sites. New Exhibition: “Graffiti as Devotion along the Nile”
A new exhibition at the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology, University of Michigan, entitled “Graffiti as Devotion along the Nile,” will present ancient and medieval graffiti discovered by a Kelsey Museum field project at El-Kurru in northern Sudan. The graffiti are images rather than text, and they illuminate individual piety in ancient Kush and medieval Nubia. The exhibit is co-curated by Geoff Emberling and Suzanne Davis of the Kelsey Museum. The exhibition runs from August 23, 2019 to March 29, 2020. The exhibit opening event on September 5 and a symposium on September 20 are open to the public. Read More ...
