2018 ASOR Annual Meeting Update
With the start of the new year comes the Call for Papers for the ASOR Annual Meeting. Please visit the Annual Meeting website often as new member-organized sessions and workshops will be added to the list of approved sessions and the 2018 Call for Papers will post on January 15. The 2018 Annual Meeting will be held November 14-17 at the Denver Marriott Tech Center in Denver, CO. Stay tuned for more information!

Urban Jewish Heritage Conference: Call for Papers
The Urban Jewish Heritage Conference will be held in the World Heritage City of Krakow in Poland. The conference will bring together academics, managers, planners, policy makers and community leaders and the conference is designed to encourage provocative, creative and constructive dialogue across different sectors and different disciplines and will feature case studies and best practice. Remembrance: Lawrence E. Stager
From colleagues at Harvard comes the sad news that Lawrence E. Stager died unexpectedly at his home in Concord, MA on Friday, December 29, 2017. He was Dorot Professor of the Archaeology of Israel Emeritus at Harvard, Director of the Leon Levy Expedition to Ashkelon and a long-time member of ASOR. He was 74. A fuller notice will follow.
Grants for Excavation Projects - Deadline January 10th

Study of Collections Fellowships - Deadline January 10th
ASOR is pleased to announce two fellowships of $2,000 each to support the study of collections. Applicants must be current ASOR members.The collections covered by these fellowships include museum and archival collections, repositories, or collections of national authorities. The fellowship funds may be used to support travel and per diem expenses. Other direct expenses are permissible, but they may not exceed one-third of the funds received from ASOR. Indirect and/or overhead expenses are not allowable. Applications are due January 10, 2018.

Dever Archaeological Fellowship for Biblical Scholars - Deadline January 10th
The William G. Dever Archaeological Fellowship for Biblical Scholars provides $7,000 to be used to cover transportation; one month on a specified dig; and one month travel to other digs, combined with a one-month residency (room and half-board) at the W. F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research in Jerusalem, which will allow the Dever Fellow to conduct research in the Albright library. During the residency, the Albright Institute will facilitate visits to excavations active in the field. Applicants, who must have the Ph.D. or equivalent degree in hand, must demonstrate in writing how their professional education, experience, and career aims would benefit from the Fellowship.
