AM2017 Update - Academic Program
It's time to start planning your schedule for the Annual Meeting! The Academic Program features 120 sessions and over 600 paper and poster presentations. Check the Annual Meeting Schedules page for the latest updates and to find out when Business Meetings and Special Events will take place. Stay tuned for information about the conference mobile app, which will allow you to add sessions to your calendar and receive alerts about schedule changes.
Meet the ASOR Board of Trustees Nominees!
ASOR is pleased to announce that the Trustee Nominations Committee has selected highly qualified members to stand for election for four open positions on the ASOR Board of Trustees (two openings for Individual Representatives and two openings for Institutional Representatives). The ASOR Board sets the direction for ASOR and provides oversight for our organization. Click here to learn about the nominees. Ballots will be distributed electronically later this week.
AM17 Hotel Update
ASOR’s room block at The Westin Boston Waterfront is sold out. Email Arlene Press if you would like to be added to a wait-list for rooms or if you have a reservation at the hotel that you need to cancel. This will help to ensure that your room will be re-allocated to another attendee. ASOR is also managing a room-share list. If you have a reservation for a double room and would like to share it with another attendee, please contact Arlene Press to be matched with someone.
 
ASOR and Partner Organizations Urge Continued US Engagement in UNESCO
ASOR has joined together with the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA), American Alliance of Museums (AAM), American Anthropological Association (AAA), Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD), Society for Classical Studies (SCS), U.S. National Committee of ICOMOS (US/ICOMOS), and U.S. Committee of the Blue Shield (USCBS) to express its concerns regarding the United States of America’s intent to withdraw from UNESCO and to urge instead that the U.S. continue to work with UNESCO to protect, preserve, and promote greater awareness of our world’s shared cultural heritage. CHI Report: Update - Ninawa Governorate
ASOR CHI previously reported 13 mosques and shrines damaged in June 2014 as a result of intentional destruction by ISIS. Many of these incidents were documented and publicized in photographs and video footage released by ISIS and the pattern of destruction demonstrates that these sites were target for ideological reasons. Sean W. Dever Memorial Prize 2017 - Call for Papers
The William F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research in Jerusalem announces the 2017 Sean W. Dever Memorial Prize call for papers. This prize provides $650 for the best published article or paper presented at a conference that treats a topic in the field of Syro-Palestinian or biblical archaeology. Open Faculty Position at Calvin College
The Calvin College History Department invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professorship in History and Archaeology, with a strong commitment to teaching and expanding digital humanities.
