March Fellowship Madness - We Met Our Goal!
We did it! Thanks to our generous donors, we are able to support 24 fellowships. As in past years, we called upon our members and Friends to help increase the number of fellowships. We’re thrilled that you responded so generously, and now four more students will be able to go on a dig. Fellowship Spotlight: Samuel R. Wolff
ASOR is pleased to announce that Dr. Samuel R. Wolff of the Israeli Antiquities Authority is one of three recipients of ASOR's Study of Collections Fellowships. Click here to read more about Dr. Wolff's plans to study the archival materials of Alan Rowe's 1934 excavation at Tel Gezer, a small-scale excavation that has never been fully published.
 
CAARI Appoints a New Director
With great pleasure, CAARI announces the appointment of Dr. Lindy Crewe as its new Director. A leading scholar of Bronze Age Cyprus, Dr. Crewe comes to CAARI from the University of Manchester, England, where she is a Lecturer in Archaeology. Like Dr. McCarthy, whom she has known since graduate school, Dr. Crewe studied under Professor Edgar (“Eddie”) Peltenburg at the University of Edinburgh and excavates in western Cyprus. ASOR CHI in the News
PBS Newshour visited the ancient Assyrian capital city of Nimrud and detailed the damage wrought by the so-called Islamic State (ISIL). The report detailed the alarming condition of the now leveled Ziggurat and the severely damaged Northwest Palace of King Assurnasirpal II (9th century BC) destroyed by ISIL. Local Iraqis recounted their memories of the site. PBS Newshour consulted with ASOR CHI to provide background information and area expertise, as well as many of the featured photographs.
