Position Opening: Director of CAARI
Cyprus American Archaeological Research Institute (CAARI) is looking to fill the positon of Director. The Director directs and manages CAARI’s research center, its staff, and its residence in line with the policies and decisions of the Board of Trustees of CAARI. Responsibilities of the Director include the on-going development of its library, preparation and implementation of scholarly and public programs and events, facilitating and supporting the work of fellows and visiting scholars, and providing services for archaeological projects in Cyprus. Antiquities Department Issues Condolences for Death of Dr. Edgar Peltenburg
Long-time ASOR member and eminent archaeologist, Dr. Edgar Peltenburg, passed away on August 14th. Peltenburg was Emeritus Professor of Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh and director of numerous excavations in Cyprus. He was born on May 28, 1942. In 1968 he received the Ph.D. degree in Ancient History and Archaeology from the University in Birmingham. ASOR Seeks Member Input Regarding Annual Meeting
In an effort to help resolve the issue of Annual Meeting timing and locations and how that affects those attending AAR and SBL meetings, an Ad Hoc Annual Meeting Committee has been established. Fulbright Scholar in Residence Opportunity
The Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (S-I-R) Program assists U.S. higher education institutions in expanding programs of academic exchange. For the 2017-18 academic year, the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program offers additional grant opportunities for all U.S. colleges and universities to apply to host scholars or professionals in Cultural Heritage Protection and Preservation from Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya or Iraq.
