ASOR and AIA have a NEH grant for a groundbreaking, international summit that will empower groups protecting cultural heritage in Syria to work collaboratively and efficiently. The summit will conclude with an open session on Friday, December 11 at the National Geographic Society in Washington, DC. | Individual and Institutional Representative Voting Results |
The results are in! Many of you participated in our first online vote for Individual Trustees while our Institutional Representatives voted for the Institutional Trustee. We're happy to report that three times as many members took part in the vote than previous years. Please join me in welcoming our elected Individual Trustees Ann-Marie Knoblauch and Jane Evans, as well as our Institutional Trustees Jeffrey Blakely and J. Edward Wright!

| New Board-Elected Trustee: Randy Helm |
Please join us in welcoming our new Board-elected trustee, Randy Helm. Peyton Randolph "Randy" Helm served as Muhlenberg College's eleventh president from July 1, 2003, through June 30, 2015. Dr. Helm earned his BA in Archaeology from Yale University and his PhD in ancient history, specializing in ancient Greek and Near Eastern history and literature, from the University of Pennsylvania. ASOR is currently accepting proposals for 2016 Member-Organized Sessions and Workshops. The application form is simple and only requires a brief description and a list of 4 or more potential speakers and paper topics. The deadline to submit proposals is December 15, 2015. | 2016 ASOR Annual Meeting Hotel Reservations |
|
The 2016 ASOR Annual Meeting will take place at La Cantera Hill Country Resort, a beautiful venue just outside of San Antonio, Texas with several excellent restaurants and nearby shops and attractions. ASOR has negotiated a discounted group rate at the hotel ($159+/night) and the resort fees are waived for ASOR attendees. We anticipate that the hotel will sell out quickly again this year, and encourage you to make your reservation early using ASOR’s online reservation link or by calling 1-855-499-2960 and referencing the American Schools of Oriental Research group block.
