Our friends at CAORC (the Council of American Overseas Research Centers), and the Overseas Research Centers they represent (including our close affiliates, the W. F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research in Jerusalem, the American Center for Oriental Research in Amman, and the Cyprus-Ameican Archaeological Research Institute in Nicosia), have asked for our help as they look toward securing Title VI funding for the upcoming fiscal year. We're glad to pass this information along, so that ASOR members who wish to support CAORC's efforts will be able to do so. Read more...
Survey on Field Safety (2015): Middle East, North Africa, and Mediterranean Basin
Stories about romantic escapades on archaeological excavations are legend, as anyone who has worked on a dig can surely attest. We have all heard about happy relationships that began in the field and thrived for decades. But as we also know, excavation lore contains stories of other kinds of “relationships” as well. This Survey on Field Safety: Middle East, North Africa, and Mediterranean Basin (2015) is designed to understand the ways in which archaeological fieldwork does – or does not – provide a safe and secure setting for all participants. In particular, it focuses on physical and emotional safety from intimidation, harassment and violence based on gender, sexual orientation, and/or gender identity. Read more...

The InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta has sold out of rooms at ASOR’s discounted rate ($149+) for Thursday, Nov. 19 and Friday, Nov. 20. There are a limited number of rooms available on all other nights. Please email Arlene Press if you would like to be added to a waitlist for rooms that open due to cancellations and changes, or if you would like to reserve a room for nights other than Thursday and Friday. Important: If you need to cancel an existing reservation at The InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta, please email Arlene Press instead of going through the hotel so that we are able to reallocate your room to an ASOR attendee on the waitlist.

"Blast from the Past" Call for Photos
You may have seen in a recent report by Susan Ackerman regarding news from the field, that there was a great Then/Now photo of Thomas Levy at Gezer. With this spark of inspiration, ASOR would like to do a "Blast from the Past" photo series! Have you been working at the same dig for a number of years? Do you have the opportunity to send us a "then" and "now" photo of you at that site? Send submissions to Kaitlynn Anderson and you could be featured on our blog and social media sites!
