BASOR Editor named NEH Public Scholar
Congratulations to BASOR Co-Editor, Dr. Eric Cline, on being named a National Endowment for the Humanities Public Scholar. Dr. Cline has been given a grant to assist him in finishing his book, Digging up Armageddon: The Story of Biblical Megiddo from Canaanites to Christians. He is among 36 scholars who have received grants from the NEH's new Public Scholar program. Read more ...
 
Cultural Heritage Initiative Weekly Report 44
During the reporting period, reported heritage damage declined markedly relative to rates documented for the previous two months. It is too early to determine the cause for this decline and to determine whether it is linked to an actual decline in heritage incidents or, instead, represents an aftereffect of the recent hyper‐focus on the capture of Tadmor/Palmyra by ISIL and/or the reduced capacity of many in‐country monitoring groups linked to the expanding footprints of ISIL and other extremists. ASOR, in cooperation with several foundations and general donors, will award up to 10 Travel Grants of $250 each, and up to 6 service scholarships of $700 each to student members.
